Psalm 47:1-9

1 Oh, clap your hands, all you peoples! Shout to God with the voice of triumph! 2 For the Lord Most High is awesome; He is a great King over all the earth. 3 He will subdue the peoples under us, And the nations under our feet. 4 He will choose our inheritance for us, The excellence of Jacob whom He loves. 5 God has gone up with a shout, The Lord with the sound of a trumpet. 6 Sing praises to God, sing praises! Sing praises to our King, sing praises! 7 For God is the King of all the earth; Sing praises with understanding. 8 God reigns over the nations; God sits on His holy throne. 9 The princes of the people have gathered together, The people of the God of Abraham. For the shields of the earth belong to God; He is greatly exalted.

God inhabits the praises of His people. When praises go up, blessings come down. Examine verse 1 for a moment: The Hebrew word for shout is "ruwa" (7321-Strong's) meaning to split the ears (with sound); (i.e.)shout for alarm or joy; blow an alarm, cry (alarm, aloud, out), destroy, make a joyful noise. Now let's examine verses 6 & 7: The Hebrew word for sing is "zamar" (2167-Strong's) meaning the idea of striking with the fingers; to touch the strings or parts of a musical instrument; play upon it; to make music accompanied by the voice; hence to celebrate in song and music; give praise; sing forth praises; psalms. We all have different gifts. What's awesome is that God uniquely designed us all to worship and praise His Holy and Righteous name; whether that be clapping your hands, singing, patting your feet, playing the tambourines, piano, etc. Let us worship Him at all times unselfishly in spirit and in truth. We serve a Mighty God. He gave His Son so that we may have life abundantly. Through Him we have victory, love, joy, peace and happiness that surpasses all understanding. For that alone HE IS GREATLY TO BE PRAISED!!
